Can anyone from Pakistan, that is, completely anti-diametrically from America, get their hands on 1,9 million phones in the US? It seems that hacking has no borders, just as punishment has no borders.

A Pakistani swindler has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for unlocking 1,9 million phones of the largest US telecommunications company AT&T in seven years. The company lost more than $ 200 million due to improper use of the phones.

Convicted Muhammad Fahd acting from Pakistan bribed many AT&T employees to use the feature them and unlock them . And to make matters worse, when the company increased it Fahd used the same people to inject malware into the company's servers.

Between the summer of 2012 and April 2013, Fahd recruited AT&T employees, bribing them with hundreds of thousands of dollars to remove their cell phone billing system.

As of April 2013, the scammer was forced to hire a malware developer to design malicious tools after AT&T introduced a new system to which prevented corrupt officials from continuing to unlock phones on his behalf.

As soon as the malware was deployed on the company's network, it gathered enough information to create additional malware, which the scammers used to remotely "process fake unlock requests" from Pakistan.

From November 2014 to September 2017, Fahd and several of his associates also bribed other AT&T employees to install hardware devices (such as wireless access points) on the operator's internal network.

Following this breach, the conspirators gained access to AT & T's systems to automate the "false unlock request process."

Throughout this project, Fahd and his colleagues used many front to cover their illegal activity, including Swift Unlocks Inc, Endless Trading FZE, Endless Connections Inc and iDevelopment Co. It's incredible that he didn't stop his illegal activity even when he knew the company was suspicious and investigating.

AT&T found that 1.900.033 mobile phones were unlocked illegally, resulting in losses of $ 201.497.430,94 due to lost payments.

The company sued its former employees as well as the person in charge. Fahd was arrested in Hong Kong in February 2018 and extradited to the United States in August 2019. He remained in prison until his final conviction this week. to 12 years in prison.
