The Kodi Development Team announced today, the availability of the final version of Kodi 17 "Krypton" an open-source media center for Windows, Linux, Android, macOS and iOS.
The final version of Kodi 17 “Krypton” is a major release with many improvements in many of its components, such as: PVR, VideoPlayer, and Music Library. It comes with better organization in settings, better audio support for Android, and an updated interface user interface (UI) with a new default theme called Estuary.
“The new Estuary theme preset is specifically designed as a 10-foot UI, while screen for touch devices have a new touch feature called Etouchy. To complete the overhaul, the new Chorus2 is also available as the default web interface,” the Kodi developers said in the announcement.
Prominent features of Kodi 17 "Krypton" include support for tag scraping, performance improvements, better management of huge libraries while navigating, better video and audio synchronization, enable video decoding and encoding for all supported platforms, as well as and resume switching.
It comes with new inputstream extensions added and includes several new ones functions SmoothStream, Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP), NXMSL, and MPEG-DASH. For the conversion Colour, there is OpenGL support and hardware-accelerated DVD playback.
Kodi 17 is now compatible with Android Audio API, which means you should run at least Android 5.0 on your device.
