The long-awaited Debian GNU/Linux 9 Stretch operating system has a release date as of today, as one of its members teams announced that the stable distribution will be released on June 17, 2017.
So great news for fans of the Debian GNU/Linux operating system, as they will be able to upgrade their installations of Debian GNU/Linux 8 Jessie in the next big Stretch release, which will be pushed to the fixed channel on Saturday, June 17, 2017, three weeks from today.
Until then, the release team needs to patch errors, various crashes and memory leaks, incorporate all the latest security updates and address any upgrade issues from the Debian GNU/Linux 8 Jessie series, for a smoother transition to the upcoming new stable distribution.
