CCleaner 5.36: Piriform released yesterday a new version of the popular Windows cleaning software.
The new version brings two major changes, namely a new feature informationand new default cleanup rules for some Windows applications.
CCleaner 5.36 is available for download from the official website of the company and comes as an updated version for them users of CCleaner Professional.
Those who use the free version can download the portable version from the page that comes with no adware.
Emergency updater is a new feature of CCleaner that comes with its own executable file CCUpdate.exe and a new scheduled task called CCleaner Updater.
Embedding Emergency Updater in the updated application is probably a response to the recent hack on the company's infrastructure. The attackers managed to install malicious code on CCleaner, which was circulating for about a month through the company's official website.

The second major change to the new 5.36 version changes some of the cleaning preset rules. The default rules are those set when you run the program the first time.
Perhaps the biggest change is that the updated application will no longer delete browsing data by default. The change affects Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Opera, Safari, and Thunderbird applications.
