Intel he said a new technology better safetys that it calls “Intel threat detection technology” or “Intel Threat Detection Technology.”
Intel currently has the new threat detection technology with two features and plans to introduce additional features in the future.
The first is called Accelerated Memory Scanning, which scans from processors company's integrated graphics processor from Intel.
The benefits of Accelerated Memory Scanning are important: Intel notes that technology improves scanning performance while reducing power consumption and computer resources needed for scanning.
The initials benchmarks according to the company showed that CPU usage was reduced from 20% to 2%, although it should be verified by independent researchers.
Advanced Threat Protection is only available for Windows 10 at this time, and only for devices running Windows 10 Fall Creators Update or a later version.
But Microsoft earlier announced 2018 that the security feature will also be applied to devices running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 this summer.
The second feature of Intel Threat Detection Technology is Intel Advanced Platform Telemetry. This feature uses telemetry data with engineering learning algorithms to improve threat detection, reduce false positives, and minimize performance impacts.
Intel antivirus scanning can improve system performance and any such effort is welcome, especially if it improves battery life and comes with higher scanning rates.
The advanced memory scan will of course have to be tested to see if the Intel benchmarks are real. Of course, it goes without saying that we should be careful when "listening" to a collection of any kind data telemetry.
