Its neutrality internet is dead.
At least that's the verdict of the United States District Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, heard today by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The principles of net neutrality generally provide that the management of the network by providers should be transparent, and that ISPs may not engage in practices that block, impede, or discriminate against websites, services, or various Internet traffic protocols.
This is the story in a few words and without being, served with a bunch of acronyms (FCC, ISP, etc.). But why should you worry about abolishing the neutrality of the internet?
1. If network neutrality no longer exists it means that providers will be able to discriminate against the content they dislike. This may not seem alarming to you, but consider a provider not liking a websiteσελίδα that you visit often.

Δεν έχουν ας πούμε το δικαίωμα να επιβραδύνουν μια ιστοσελίδα επειδή ίσως τους πλήρωσε κάποιος ανταγωνιστής. (Ίσως να μην σας νοιάζει καθώς στην Ελλάδα δεν ευδοκιμεί η διαπλοκή)
2. If there are no longer the neutrality principles, providers will be able to force websites to pay to have faster lines for content delivery.
3. Without the principles of web neutrality, small businesses, small blogs and small websites that will not have to pay will begin to disappear. If providers get the power to accept payments to provide faster loading times for a website, all small and personal websites will suffer from a slow delivery of content.
4. Without the Internet neutrality principles, entire online protocols and services, such as Netflix, are in jeopardy.
Let's say the BitTorrent protocol is a very popular service for millions world, μπορεί ξαφνικά να σταματήσει να λειτουργεί, ή να μην λειτουργεί με τον τρόπο που γνωρίζατε ως τώρα. Πώς; Πολύ απλά γιατί οι πάροχοι που τα έχουν "πάρει" από διάφορες εταιρείες που τους ανήκουν τα πνευματικά δικαιώματα αποφασίζουν να σταματήσουν το peer-to - peer , ή όλα τα online streaming βίντεο.
5. Without the neutrality of the network, your providers can earn even more money without providing improved services.
Αυτή τη στιγμή, οι ευρυζωνικές συνδέσεις είναι αρκετά αργές. Είναι αργές γιατί οι πάροχοι , κερδίζουν ήδη αρκετά χρήματα με τις αργές, και με χαμηλότερη ποιότητα Internet. Όμως το ίδιο ισχύει για όλους τους Έλληνες. Σκεφτείτε να δώσουν λίγο (πολύ λίγο) υψηλότερη ποιότητα Internet, σε αυτούς που τα "σκάνε" και να αφήσουν την υπόλοιπη Ελλάδα με χωρίς υπηρεσία, ή με υπηρεσίες χαμηλότερης quality.
Now that the neutrality of the internet will cease to exist, providers will be able to make even more money from the same customers. They should not improve services or bring the Internet to areas that do not exist because they will be able to continue to increase their revenue by having more and more fast internet to the same customers. At least those who will withstand its price.
