A camera pill size has been approved by the FDA as an alternative for patients who are unable to have a colonoscopy.
The capsule has a camera at both ends. Navigation through the patient's intestines takes an 8-hour period. Throughout the "journey" he takes high-speed photos that are then sent to a device being examined by a doctor, as Mashable said.
The device is not intended to take the position of the colonoscopy, but to be used in conjunction with it. Its price is around 500 dollars.
PillCam is approved in 80 others countries, except from the US.
