For the first time, Reporters Without Borders is publishing a list of profiles of its “100 Heroes informations" or in English "100 information heroes"On World Press Freedom Day (today 3 May).
Through their work and activism, these "100 heroes" helped to promote the freedom of the press guaranteed by Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The freedom "of searching, of receiving and disseminating information and ideas by any means of expression, and regardless of frontiers."
100 journalists (of course there are others who are not on the list) have an ideal service of common good and can serve as examples.
"World Press Freedom Day" was created on the initiative of Reporters Without Borders.
"Today, with the list of 100 we pay tribute to the courage of journalists and bloggers who sacrifice their safety and sometimes their lives for their mission," said Reporters Without Borders Secretary-General Christophe Deloire.
