(Reuters) H ομάδα πολιτικών ελευθεριών της Καλιφόρνια ACLU κυκλοφόρησε μια εφαρμογή για κινητά την Πέμπτη που επιτρέπει στον χρήστη να καταγράψει video from his cell phone, possible cases of police misconduct and save it material into a servers service.
The ACLU in California (US Civil Liberties Union) said the application would be able to send the video to the service even if the phone was seized or destroyed by the police.
The launch of the application “Mobile Justice CA ”of ACLU comes as a response to the violence of US law enforcement agencies, as we have seen last, using lethal violence, especially against African-Americans.
"It is vital that everyone understands what is being done by the police, because what is being done is being done in name of the public," said Hector Villagra, executive director of the ACLU of Southern California.
The application is aimed at residents of the most populated state of the US, but ACLU is preparing to release similar mobile applications in at least five other states, such as New York, Missouri and Mississippi.
Mobile Justice CA will also send alerts to everyone who uses the app and are in the area where something is happening, giving them the opportunity to run quickly as a boost to the one filming the video of an illegal police act.
A spokesman from the California Police Association refused to comment directly on the application.
In the past, police attorneys have voiced concern that police video filming may affect police officers in an already tense situation.
