One of the benefits of being a Windows Insider is that you can use the operating system for free. As long as you remain in the Windows Insider program, you do not need to purchase a Windows 10 license, and this is a very good incentive for several users to participate in the program.
Some may still want to try new builds first, but they do not want to get them down from the first.
The downside to this is that your system may become unstable or that you may be in the face of errors.
So if you're running Windows Insider builds on a computer that you use for work you may experience problems after installing a test build.
Some of these problems can be fixed if you have the foresight to back up, but you should be very consistent with it.
But if there was a way to stay in the Microsoft Insider program without getting updates? An Insiders option is to subscribe to the Slow Ring instead of Fast, but this slows down the update process and does not stop it completely.
However, there seems to be a way to stay in the program without having to constantly upgrade with each new build.
The Insider program seems to be linked to the Feedback setting. So if you modify them a bit settings Windows 10's Feedback feature will block new updates.
The modification seems to block it delivery of new Windows Insider program updates to the system. So for example yesterday's release of Build 10525, doesn't show up in the system at all until you change the Feedback setting back to its default price.
Let's see how it works:
Open a RUN window (Win + R)
Type regedit and press enter.
Confirm the UAC if it appears
Follow the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ DataCollection path.
Set the AllowTelemetry value to 0.
You can confirm it by opening Settings - Privacy - Comments & Diagnosis. The option "Send your device data to Microsoft" should be set to Basic if you have modified the registry key.
If you ever want a version from Windows Insider, you'll need to set the value back to 3.
