A representative of Vodafone UK said that the company παραβιάστηκε από hackers που κατάφεραν να αποκτήσουν πρόσβαση σε προσωπικά στοιχεία περίπου 2.000 πελατών τους. Ας δούμε τι έγινε ακριβώς:
The hack allegedly took place during duration last week, and Vodafone is citing a third-party company that handles their data as the cause of the problem.
"This incident came from criminals who used email addresses and passwords obtained from an unknown source other than Vodafone." states the company statement.
"Vodafone systems have not been compromised in any way."
Good one huh; (The way it bothered them, they probably consider hacking just the case of SQL Injection.) The result counts gentlemen.
According to an internal research, the hackers obtained data including customer names, mobile phone numbers, bank branch codes, as well as the last four digits of their bank accounts.
The number of people affected by the hack seems to reach 1.827. The company added that there is no evidence of stolen credit or debit card details.
Vodafone also reports that the accounts of its customers who they leaked, μπλοκαρίστηκαν άμεσα για την πρόληψη απάτης και κατάχρησης των δεδομένων. Αυτό πρακτικά σημαίνει ότι η εταιρεία επικοινώνησε άμεσα με τα θύματα, τις banks, and as reported by the company and with the Law Enforcement Authorities.
Direct communication with all concerned in such cases is necessary as it may (perhaps) prevent malicious acts from criminals. It depends, of course, on how direct communication is, and when hack was discovered.
