The Fedora Project has just announced the availability of the final version of the Fedora 24 operating system for desktops, servers, cloud, and embedded devices.
This version was delayed four times during its development cycle, but as of today it is available in the Fedora Workstation, Fedora Server, and Fedora Cloud variants, at official Fedora Spins flavors of Xfce, LXDE, KDE, MATE/Compiz, Cinnamon, and Sugar desktops.
Of course, the users they will also be able to download Fedora 24 Labs Spins, which includes Design Suite, Games, Robotic Suite, Scientific, and Security Lab.
All of the above versions and Spins have the same kernel, namely the Linux kernel 4.5.7 and the GNU C Library in the 2.23
Let's say the Linux kernel 4.5.7 is the latest in 4.5 Linux, and Fedora developers promised to upgrade to the 4.6 core in the next few weeks.
The Fedora 24 Workstation, as the main version is offered on the Project website, and "wears" the latest fixed version GNOME 3.20.2 desktop environment, while the Fedora 24 KDE Plasma Spin comes with KDE Plasma 5,6 desktop environment. All flavors of Fedora 24 have been developed using the GCC compiler 6.
Fedora 24 is available to download directly to Live ISO images for 64-bit, 32-bit, and ARM architectures.
