Google may have launched Google Home a few weeks now, but we probably have not realized what it can do. One of the first very inventive ones applications invented by Redditor Hovee, who uses Google Home to remotely turn on his fireplace.
Unfortunately, it is not that easy for everyone who is interested.
For starters, you'll need a processor Raspberry Pi, one Global Cache iTach TCP/IP relay, as well as the Google Assistant connected to one IFTTT account. In addition to this, you need to equip the Raspberry Pi processor with it Home Assistant, and you will need to install a few more custom scripts and a few more ingredients to help you with the settings.
Once this is done, all you have to do is say the magic phrase "OK, Google" and the device in your home will ask the new Assistant AI to light the fireplace.
For those interested in construction of the device Hovee published detailed instructions for the project in Reddit.
See how it works below video.
