Microsoft: No, we do not share telemetry data

A few days ago we announced that Microsoft and FireEye security company signed a new partnership to improve Windows Defender with more advanced capabilities. But according to a publication from an Australian magazine, the agreement included something more than the cause of the new partnership.

As we reported earlier this week, one of the terms of the agreement was the sharing of data s collected by Microsoft from Windows 10 computers.

Although it was not clear why telemetry data of Windows 10, such an agreement is certainly very worrying for users of Redmond's latest operating system.

However, according to one company representative, the information is not accurate, as this agreement only includes the improved Windows Defender security features.Microsoft

The company's spokesman explained that sharing telemetry data is not a condition of the new partnership, so the information collected by Windows 10 systems will be available exclusively for Microsoft.

“The nature of the agreement between Microsoft and FireEye is take-only στο λογισμικό αξιολόγησης απειλών της FireEye Intelligence. Αυτό το πρόσθετο στρώμα πληροφοριών περιλαμβάνει δείκτες και εκθέσεις προηγούμενων επιθέσεων που συλλέγονται και επεξεργάζονται από την FireEye για να ενισχύσουν τις δυνατότητες εντοπισμού του Windows Defender Advanced Threat (WDATP). The agreement does not include the exchange of Microsoft telemetry data," explained the company representative.

For those who do not know exactly what telemetry data sent by Windows 10 to Microsft, they can see them exactly from the link at the end of the publication. According to the company, everything is anonymous, encrypted and does not include personal information.

Microsoft reports that it needs to collect some information from Windows 10 systems in order to improve the performance of the operating system and address the problems presented.

The company, of course, does not guarantee that only Microsoft technicians will have access to the Windows 10 telemetry data:

“We share your personal data with your consent or as required to complete any transaction or provide any product you have requested or authorized. We also share data with Microsoft affiliates and subsidiaries, with vendors working on our behalf, when required by law or to respond to legal process, to protect our customers, to of life, to maintain the safety of our products, and to protect the rights or property of Microsoft."
