Facebook against False Accounts to Limit False News

The problem of Facebook with false accounts is not new and once again the largest social network, it is reportedly taking steps to protect the integrity of its platform.

In a statement yesterday, the company announced that it has begun to introduce too many improvements to its platform security and integrity platforms that will help track suspicious accounts and reduce the spread of misinformation.Facebook

"We've found that when people represent themselves on Facebook the same way they do in real life, they act responsibly," the team says. of Facebook.

"Fake accounts do not follow this pattern, and are closely linked to the creation and spread of spam."

The new changes will help the social network to detect fake accounts more efficiently. "We've made improvements to identify non-genuine accounts more easily by tracking activity patterns, without evaluating the content itself."

The security engineers of the largest social network could refer to the recurring of the same content or unusual phenomena in the communication activity of the fake account.

New improvements have so far been implemented at a limited level in France and have identified more than 30.000 bogus accounts. It is very likely to see a huge increase in this number when security systems are updated globally.

Of course, we should mention that enhanced security measures are very likely to reduce the total number of bogus accounts, but also that there is a risk that too many authentic accounts may be blocked by mistake.
