Samsung Gear: Samsung appeared at IFA in Berlin and presented it two wearable, two new different Gear Smartwatch models: Gear Sport and Gear Fit 2 Pro.
Both devices are optimized to monitor the owner's activity, although they also come with features that allow them to collaborate with Samsung smartphones. However, Samsung's smartwatches also work with iPhone, although you will not be able to enjoy all of their features.
The Samsung Gear Sport is the model that looks more like a watch. It has a circular coating of 1,2-inch Super AMOLED with a resolution of 360 × 360 pixels and Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
The device is powered by a dual-core 1.0 GHz chip combined with 768MB RAM and 4GB storage. It works with a battery of 300 mAh and comes with the standard wireless charging system used on all Samsung mobile devices.
Gear Sport features a GPS sensor so it can monitor your workout without having a smartphone to provide mapping capabilities.
It also incorporates an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a barometer, a HR monitor, and a light sensor, and Bluetooth connectivity, Wi-Fi and NFC support for connectivity.
The device will be available in black and blue and has IP68 certification for diving up to 50 meters. It has the MIL_STD-810G calibration for shock-proof. No specific information on price and availability has been given, but it is expected that the device will be available soon.
Gear Fit 2 Pro it is obvious that it has a much more sporty look and features the standard Gear Fit design that brings it closer to an activity band than to a smartwatch.
Compared to Gear Fit 2, the Pro model has improved water resistance, as the device lasts up to and 50 meters deep. This makes it suitable for swimming and Samsung has worked with Speedo to develop a bath monitoring application to be pre-installed on the device.
The remaining specifications remain unchanged: a Super AMOLED 1,5 inch display, a GPS sensor, and a 200 mAh battery that will easily reach you for one day unless you use GPS too much every day. Gear Fit 2 Pro will be released on 31 August by 199 dollars.
