Facebook Watch: Facebook launched its Watch service in the United States on Thursday as it partners with YouTube for video ad revenue.
Watch video, which began testing earlier this month, allows users find TV shows based on what their friends are watching and have conversations with others watching the show during an episode.
Η service will contain content from Vox, Buzzfeed, Discovery Communications, A&E Networks, Walt Disney ABC, and Live Sports such as Major League Baseball.
The largest Social Network via Facebook Watch will pays also initially content creators for shows that will generate interest. Shorter events will pay between $10.000 and $35.000, while longer presentations could fetch up to $250.000, Reuters sources said.
In the end, Facebook will open the platform for everyone, and everyone will be able to submit some live event.
Content Partners will earn 55% of revenue from ads while Facebook will hold 45%. The company is currently testing how ads can work as part of the broadcast, according to Dan Rose, vice president of Facebook partnerships.
The company acquired the Source3 Intellectual Property Rights (IP) company in July to help content creators protect their IP.
