CentOS Linux 7.4.1708: The CentOS operating system is developed by a community of contributors open code. Typically CentOS users are companies and individuals who do not need strong commercial support for their operating system.
CentOS is a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 100% Compatible Rebuild that fully complies with Red Hat's distribution requirements. CentOS is for those who need stability in a business-class operating system without the cost of certification and support.
From 2014, Red Hat funds CentOS, allowing the development team to maintain its open-source character.
CentOS 7 is a great choice to use on home, even on a non-Linux-friendly laptop. It will work flawlessly despite the challenges. Addressing the challenges is also the downside of CentOS, as it lacks Red Hat Enterprise Linux support.
Red Hat released it Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4 on 1th August 2017. Of course, as I mentioned, I've been waiting for (and probably all the distribution friends) to come 'Release Point' of CentOS, meaning the main version of a distribution (in this case CentOS Linux 7) to the updated version 4 from the Red Hat source code.
Today it seems the day I expected:
CentOS repositories contain all up-to-date 7.4.1708 packages as well as official ISO images for full installation of the distribution.
For those familiar with CentOS, the release of each new release is a big event, due to the slow development cycle it adopts. Project.
