The company planned to terminate the free upgrades on 31 December 2017, as it had planned to halt the free upgrades and one year after the official release of Windows 10. But earlier this week we announced that this method of installing the company's operating system is still available at no cost and without any formal announcement.
Microsoft has reportedly once again modified the official promo page to state that "the upgrade offer for Windows 10 with assistive technologies expires on January 16, 2018" from December 31 previously mentioned.
The strange thing is that Microsoft only updated the bid end date on the website, leaving the rest of the text as it was. The page still shows the Windows 10 version Anniversary Update, despite the fact that the company has already released two newer updates, namely the Creators Update and the Fall Creators Update.
To mention once again that although the free upgrades available through this proletterAlthough they are aimed specifically at people who use assistive technologies, the method can be used to upgrade by anyone computer with Windows 7 and 8.1 to Windows 10, as Microsoft does not perform any checks.
Naturally, this omission is pleasing to Microsoft's goal of installing the operating system on as many PCs as possible.
