Acronis has released a new, free, standalone application called Acronis Ransomware Protection. The new app uses Active Protection technology based on its Cloud AI companys.

Lightweight (20MB) software Acronis Ransomware Protection runs in the background and, according to the development company, monitors your system's real-time processes to automatically detect and stop any ransomware attacks.
When it detects a malicious process, it blocks it and notifies the user with a pop-up window. THE standalone application also facilitates the immediate restoration of infected files.

According to the company, the application is effective against all types of ransomware that are in circulation, including those that are not in circulation (zero-day attacks). This makes Acronis' application much more efficient than others solutions which to detect a malware rely on signatures.
The new application can be backed up to cloud and any user can have 5GB for free at Acronis Cloud.
You can use one simulator ransomware from RanSim to test the software.
