The upcoming Windows 10 Redstone 4 upgrade will bring substantial improvements to the system, and Microsoft promises that the installation it will only last 30 minutes.
The development team achieved the fastest installation by reducing the time the installer is connected to the internet, as they were able to move most processes after the removement of the system in the online stage.
In other words, most of the process of installing the upcoming system will be completed before the system reboots, and everything will happen in the background, so the machine will need less time with offline installation.
However, according to the company, this will not apply to all systems. Redstone 4 can be installed in 30 minutes only on compatible hardware systems. For everything else, you'll need to connect online to complete the installation.
Reducing installation time is a project with which Microsoft began to develop before the development of the Fall Creators Update. In this update, the time after restart was reduced to 38%, and in total it reached 51 minutes.
With further optimizations in Redstone 4 reduced the average time will reach 30 minutes, 63% faster compared to the previous version.
"Because of these changes, the online phase of updating the operating system will take longer to complete.
However, this will not be noticeable to most users of the operating system as the installation processes work with low priority. So they won't have a big impact on battery life or system performance," he says Microsoft on the insiders blog.
The Windows 10 Redstone 4 update is expected to be released in April.
