The reason for this publication is announcement of Cloudflare to provide new DNS, which, according to the company, provide improved security and faster response times. But Cloudflare DNSs are faster than OpenDNS DNS, Quad9, or Google Public DNS?

We'll look at it below.

internet - DNS: how to find the fastest DNS resolvers for your system
First of all, when talking about speed, we need to know that too much depends on how close you are to a specific DNS detector.
If you are just on the way to a data center that hosts OpenDNS DNS, it will be the fastest DNS resolver. Someone else who lives in another country will have quite different results.

To find out which DNS provider is faster for you, you need to check for yourself.

How; You will need the Unix BIND command. If you are not using an unix functional you can use the tool Dig of the Geektools website.

From the Unix / Linux shell, you can run the dig with the following joke:

dig @DNS_διεύθυνση_IP test.gr

Where DNS_address.IP is the IP of the DNS server that you want to check and test.gr a site that you want to see how it responds to the specific DNS. Therefore, to see how fast Google Public DNS responds to iguru.gr's IP address, you need to run the following command:

dig @8.8.8.8 iguru.gr

That's it. What interests you in the results is the line that states "Query time". The results you will see are in milliseconds, and refer to the time it takes the DNS resolver to give you the answer. The smaller this number, the better.

If you are running a Linux system, there is a new shell program, the dnsperftest, which can give you fast results for the most popular DNS resolvers.

This way you can see which is the best DNS provider for you. As mentioned above, those who do not have a Linux system with Geektools Dig will show you all the information you need.
