Dear associate,
Over the past year we have communicated the measures we take to ensure compliance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the new data protection legislation that will enter into force on 25 May 2018. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) affects European and non-European companies using Internet advertising and measurement solutions when users and users have access to their websites and applications within the European Economic Area (EEA).
Today we are giving more details about the measures we take in view of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which includes the an updated User Consent Policy in the EU, changes to the terms of the contract, and changes to our products to help you and Google help you with meeting the new requirements.
Updated User Consent Policy in the EU
Η User consent policy in the EU of Google updated in order to reflect the new legal requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Defines your obligations to update and get end-users consent from your sites and applications in the EEA. The policy is incorporated into the contracts for most Google advertising and measurement products worldwide.
Changes to the contract
Since last August, we have updated our contract terms for many products, reflecting Google's status as either processing or processing under the new legislation (see full categorization of our promotional products). The new GDPR terms will be added to your current contract with Google and will take effect on 25 May 2018.
In the cases of DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP), DoubleClick Ad Exchange (AdX), AdMob, and AdSense, both Google and its customers act as independent data processors processed by these services. These new terms provide clarity about our respective responsibilities when processing this data, while providing both you and Google with protection in relation to that particular processor. Through these terms, we are committed to complying with our obligations under the General Data Protection Policy (GDPR) when we use any personal data relating to these services and the terms require you to commit to the same commitment.
  • Soon we will create new ones terms of processor-controller for DFP and AdX for customers who have terms on the web.
  • Until May 25 2018, we will also create new AdSense and AdMob terms for customers who have terms on the internet
If you use it Google Analytics (GA), Attribution, Optimize, Tag Manager, or Data Studio, either free or paid, Google acts as the processor of the personal data processed in the service. The data processing terms in these products are already available for your acceptance (Admin pages → Account settings). If you are a customer in the EEA Google Analytics, data processing will soon be included in your terms. Non-EEA GA customers and all GA 360 customers can accept terms within the GA.
Changes in products
In order to comply with the General Data Protection (GDPR) Regulation and in order to support your compliance, we do the following:
  • We make available a solution to support publishers who only want to display non-personalized ads.
  • We make available new DFP / AdX Scheduled Transactions for AdSense for Content, AdSense for Games, and AdMob in order to provide you with the ability to control which third parties measure and display ads for EEA users on websites and your applications. We will send you more information about these tools in the coming weeks.
  • We are taking measures to limit the processing of personal data for children under the age of consent in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in each Member State.
  • We provide new controls for Google Analytics customers to manage the maintenance and deletion of their data.
  • We explore consensus solutions for publishers, including working with industry groups such as IAB Europe.
