FightHoax Cambridge Analytica Research and Analysis - March 2018

The FightHoax Technology Team, in collaboration with Mr. Christos Ieridis of the Ethnos newspaper, conducted 32 research and analysis of international articles on the coverage of Cambridge Analytica's thematic section between 18 and 24, March 2018, with the help of the FightHoax IKE test technology.

Below we publish the findings and general comments of the group.

Technology

The FightHoax technology aims to create a holistic and objective informational picture of the analyzed article or articles. This is achieved through comparative testing and of information from the various sections that make up the totality of the content of a source or sources.

The algorithm of the FightHoax test technology follows a logical analysis similar to the analogy and fundamentally human methodology of critical thinking.

The analysis covers 5 key axes of subject matter.

Thematic Unity

The thematic section of this analysis concerns the coverage of the topical issue of Cambridge Analytica, as reflected in 32 articles of the international press.

Altogether, 32 articles have accumulated impressions of the order of 45 million worldwide, between 18 and 24 March 2018. It is worth noting and emphasizing that, at the time of the creation and publication of this research and analysis, this number may have increased proportionally, keeping pace with any expansion and extensive coverage of the issue by the international press.

Below is a gradual increase in interest on the Cambridge Analytica issue, based on research findings for the reported period.

Critical point of dissemination of the issue on social networks can be considered the announcement and public moves by the Executive Managing and General Manager of Facebook, Mark Zuckeberg.

The dissemination of the issue has an indisputable impact on the international press, as the relationship between public interest and the likelihood of sharing any relevant news is generally seen to be proportional.

The most common means of social networking to spread the Cambridge Analytica issue, possibly through its involvement in the issue, was Facebook.

Digital Footprint

When applying our critical thinking about the content we consume as digital information receivers, we must take into account the human factor of the columnist as well as the general direction of our source. The FightHoax test technology categorizes the above mentioned strands of the article or articles within the digital footprint of the columnist or columnist as well as the source, that is, the site where the article was published.

Digital footprint helps to understand the background of content, as it is generally seen that a digital footprint writer - that is, a history of content and content - is more trusted by the existence of content that may prove its knowledge and experience on similar issues.

It is worth noting that the lack of digital footprint for either the columnist or the source in which the article is published creates gaps in the psychological part of the article analysis or articles performed by FightHoax technology.

Based on the above diagram, the coverage of the international press on Cambridge Analytica seems to have been largely analyzed by industry experts.

We owe this observation, and always in the context of the present investigation, to the nature of the subject – because it concerns the dangerousness of false and false inscriptions , in its extent, as well as the parties involved, which are of global interest.

In particular, due to the above features and mainly due to the continuous and scaled extent and coverage of the issue, there is a greater risk of public damage in case of any deviation or inaccuracy.

It should be stressed here that the possibility of increasing coverage of the issue by sources and columnists of unknown identity or political perception (cf. Political Concept) after the cessation or decline of public interest and social impact is high, as the issue of private data abuse involves strong in the context of the possibility of misleading or even seducing the reading public and then achieving politicization and risk-taking in a social context.

For the success of the correct application of critical thinking, it is necessary to have a digital footprint of the columnists and people who make up the digital source.

Thematic Coverage

By extending the characteristics of Cambridge Analytica and the abuse of data through Facebook's social network, as well as with increased weight in the news, with the main focus being the expansion of the issue in the international press and with particular global interest, there is an extensive and highly targeted thematic coverage.

The absence of falsified or false news from the majority of 32 articles comes as a result of the Cambridge Analytica issue as it concerns a particular and sensitive public opinion while stressing the length of public interest, particularly with regard to Facebook's participation in fact.

Political Concept

Human perception is indissolubly influenced by the personal or group view.

As a result, it is important, in the application of our critical thinking, to know how and where the source, that is, the website - which is made up of people, moves on the political axis.

The implementation of the policy axis at the source of the article or articles from FightHoax technology lies entirely in the context of the "prejudice bias" of the source and not on the basis of practical criteria observed in political organizations and groups.

Based on the above diagram, although the sources of 32 articles analyzed on the Cambridge Analytica issue vary in most of the spectrum of the political axis, the basic direction is observed from sources spontaneously adjacent to a center-left perception of the news.

The main observation in the above analysis, while taking into account the Emotional Barometer of the issue of Cambridge Analytica and the stakeholders, is that the deepening and coverage of the issue benefits opinions which are instead adjacent to the main protagonists, as the majority of events seem to be a blow to their public relations at the level of international political events.

However, we have to take it into account with which the issue of Cambridge Analytica evolves in the international press, as well as that sources with a center-left perception had the greatest performance in sharing the news in social networks, citing also the impact of public opinion and psychological temperament on the issue, part of which we also observe in the emotional barometer.

Language Elements

Following the results of the analysis of the thematic coverage, as well as the digital footprints of the columnists and the sources of 32 articles on Cambridge Analytica, we see a natural flow at the level, use of language and volume of content.

In more detail, the quality of the language, the writing and editing of the articles as well as the size of the articles and the volume of information, for the most part, are above the average, as shown in the diagram below.

The result and observation comes as a result of their sources and recognition worldwide, coupled with the theme of coverage, which includes an increased number of technical descriptions as well as the background to the story.

It should be noted, however, that the "poor" coverage of the issue does not fully translate as a negative feature as, thanks to the rapid development of the subject and the short period during which the 32 articles analyzed for the purposes of this research were published, the coverage of some articles may only concern statistics or purely informative data in lists.

In any case, the coverage of Cambridge Analytica is extensive.

Emotional Barometer

In the last part of the research on the coverage of Cambridge Analytica by the international press through 32 of selected articles, we take into account the emotional barometer of public opinion and public perception of itself.FightHoax

Participation and interest of the public is a catalytic - if not absolute - factor for the decisions of the sources of information on the allocation of resources and potential.

The negative predisposition observed in the above diagram relates, in its main aspects, to the violation and exploitation of personal data, while the more negative attitude to "nausea" is more closely related to the main protagonists of Cambridge Analytica, at both business and political level , with the latter being seen as more intense and extensive in the content of the articles.

The feeling of "joy" was observed by readers of sources right of the center of the political axis, which is in the right minds.

It is important to emphasize that barometer observations include sources that were impossible to categorize because of incomplete digital fingerprints.

FightHoax IKE Conclusions

Cambridge Analytica's coverage of 32 sources in the international press has been broadly consistent with consistent and consistent guidelines, as the news spoke thematically about false and falsified news, with little room for misleading misleading and great risk of harm in such cases .

Language elements, in the majority of analyzed articles, kept above the average, indicating extensive and analytical journalism and, in some cases, compiled informative material.

At the time of publication of the 32 articles, a moderate to strong politicization of the issue was observed from left-to-left sources, based on the political axis in the context of "foreclosure", thanks to events and individuals with a targeted impact and impact on public opinion.

The emotional barometer was intense and mostly negative, with rule-based exclusions from the reading public sources adjacent to the majority of sources with the largest coverage and sharing of content. Particularly stronger was the emotional response to the protagonists of Cambridge Analytica.
