Η police of South Wales arrested a drug dealer from a message of WhatsApp that contained a photo of the dealer's hand holding various pills, according to one Publication of the BBC.
It is the first punishment in Wales based on fingerprints that just appeared in a photo.
Still, the photograph had only a small portion of the fingerprints of the suspect, which was not very useful for tracking it.
Later, police forensic scientists were able to analyze the findings to confirm that the identity of the suspect corresponded to the person arrested by the police.
According to Dave Thomas, a spokesman for the scientific teamof South Wales Police, convictions in Wales based on fingerprints from a photograph are possible due to the improvement of cameraof smartphones in recent years.
The images are quite detailed and can serve as data to locate people.
