As part of the International Transparency Initiative, Kaspersky Lab is adapting its infrastructure to transfer a number of key processes from Russia to Switzerland. This includes storing and processing customer data for most sites, as well as software development, including threat detection updates. 
To ensure full transparency and integrity, Kaspersky Lab oversees this activity by an independent external partner, also based in Switzerland.
International transparency and cooperation
The International Transparency Initiative, announced in October 2017, reflects Kaspersky Lab's ongoing commitment to ensuring the integrity and reliability of its products. The new measures are the next steps in the development of the initiative, but they also reflect the company's commitment to working with others to address the growing challenges of industry fragmentation and the collapse of trust. Trust is essential for digital security and Kaspersky Lab understands that trust is not a given, it must be earned repeatedly through transparency and accountability.
The new measures include the transfer of data storage and processing for certain areas, the relocation of software development and the establishment of the first Transparency Center.
Migration of storage and processing of customer data
By the end of 2019, Kaspersky Lab will have established a data center in Zurich and in these facilities will store and process all information for users in Europe, North America, Singapore, Australia, Japan and South Korea. This information is voluntarily shared by users through Kaspersky Security Network (KSN), an advanced cloud-based system that automatically processes data related to digital threats.
Transfer of software integration tools
Kaspersky Lab will bring to Zurich its 'software build conveyer' — a set of programming tools used to assemble ready-to-use software from source code. Before the end of 2018, Kaspersky Lab products and rule-based threat detection databases (AV databases) will begin to be consolidated and digitally signed in Switzerland before being distributed to customers' endpoints worldwide. The transfer will ensure that all newly integrated software can be verified by an independent body, and show that the builds and updates of software received by customers match the source code provided for review.
Establishment of the first Transparency Center

Independent supervision and inspection
Kaspersky Lab oversees independent data storage and processing, software integration, and source code by an external partner trained to perform technical software reviews. As transparency and trust become universal requirements across the digital security industry, Kaspersky Lab supports the creation of a new non-profit organization that will take on this responsibility, not only for the company, but also for other partners and members who wish to join.
