Google has created a business multi-billion dollar company, knowing everything about its users. Below you will see a video created by Google and published by TheVerge. The video shows us the company's ambition, something you'll find very disturbing, as it makes clear how Google executives envision using this information in the future.
The video was created in late 2016 by Nick Foster, head of project X (formerly Google X) and co-founder of the Near Future lab. The video, released internally at Google, presents a future where with total data collection, Google will be able to help users align with their goals, but also guide the behavior of entire populations to solve global problems such as poverty and disease.
A Google X spokesperson sent the following statement to TheVerge:
We get that it's annoying, because that's how it's designed to be. It's an experiment from team design made years ago. It uses a technique known as “speculative planning” to explore uncomfortable ideas and concepts and provoke debate. Not related to any current or future product.
The title of the video is The Selfish Ledger, and it's a 9-minute film that will make you think.
