Snipping Tool: Microsoft announced the end of the application

If you are a fan of the classic cutting application (Snipping Tool) of , we have bad news for you. Starting with Windows version 1809, Microsoft may remove the app. Don't worry, it won't happen overnight, but it will happen at some point.

The official release notes but Windows 10 build 17704 include the following comment:

As mentioned with Build 17661, we are in the process of updating Windows. If you upgrade to today's version, you'll see a note on the snipping tool. We currently have no plans to remove the snipping tool in the next Windows 10 update. If you haven't already, please take a moment to try out the Screen Sketch app and learn how it works. The Screen Sketch app will provide you with all the functionality of the snipping tool with additional enhancements. You can launch the application directly, or simply press WIN + Shift + S, click on the back of your stylus, or press the PrintScreen.

The Snipping Tool displays a notification stating that it will be removed in a future update.
