EETT's announcement for the disposal of domains ending with .el

On July 10 2018, 11: 00 GMT time, the Domain Name Registry will start operating.

The registration of a .el domain name will be possible for every interested person from the first day of the .el Domain Name Registry, if the desired .0L domain name is not the same or a homonym with an already assigned domain name. gr.

In particular, to protect the .gr domains already assigned domain domain (s) that wish to register the corresponding .el domain names, there will be a period of three (3) months from the start of the Domain Name Registry ending with the following restrictions:

- Domain Names with the suffix .el whose variable field is exactly the same or homogeneous with the variable field of already assigned second level Domain Names ending in .gr are assigned only to the Registrant / Carrier of the respective second level Domain Name with suffix.

- Domain Names end domain domains whose variable array is exactly the same or the same as the variable domain of the previously assigned Third Level Domain Names with a .gr extension where the second level is non-variable and there is no assigned second-level domain name assigned to it. gr with the exact same or mutually variable domain are assigned to the Registrar / Holder of the corresponding Third Level Domain Name with a .gr suffix which first submits a registration statement.

- In case there are assigned homogeneous second level Domain Names ending in .gr in different Bodies, then the respective Domain Names ending in .el are not assigned.

After the end of the quarter, 10-10-2018 and 11: 00: XNUMX ceases to apply the above limitations, and each .e domain name will be available for registration for each interested person.

Seriously, we can not find a reason for the availability of the new domains, except perhaps from the economic gain that domain providers will derive. The .el is primarily targeted at the Greek market, as in other countries keyboards will not allow the new endpoint to be registered.

The reasoning behind this release of the new suffix, is the compulsion of all owners of names ending in .gr, to obtain the corresponding name in .el '.
