Today, its developers Linux Mint κυκλοφόρησαν μια νέα έκδοση του λειτουργικού συστήματος LMDE που βασίζεται στο Debian. The codename of the distribution is 'Cindy' and anyone interested can find the download link at the end of the post. 
LMDE in version 3 aims to be as close as possible to Linux Mint, but without using it Ubuntu as a basis.
LMDE 3 is based on Debian Stretch and the official announcement states:
LMDE is a Linux Mint project and means "Linux Mint Debian Edition". The main goal for the Linux Mint team to see how sustainable our distribution is and how much work it would take if we ever lost Ubuntu. LMDE aims to be as Linux-like as possible, but without using Ubuntu. The package is provided by Debian.
Note that point releases for LMDE will not be released. In addition to bug fixes and fixes security, the base Debian packages remain the same, but the Mint and Surface components work are constantly updated.
Distribution wears the Cinnamon desktop environment which is the Linux Mint desktop environment.

1GB RAM (recommended 2GB for convenient use).
15GB disk space (20GB recommended).
