The Chrome Dino game lets you drive T Rex and jump over cacti to avoid obstacles. Press the space button to jump the dinosaur (and to start the game), and the down arrow to move forward. The goal is to survive for as long as possible, or at least until your Internet starts running.

To celebrate the fourth birthday of Chrome dino, Google published an interview with the developers who created the game, explaining its origins.

Why dinosaurs? According to Chrome designer Sebastien Gabriel, it is a game that goes back to the "prehistoric era", before the ubiquity of Wi-Fi.

The original designs of the dinosaur were codenamed “ Bolan”, from a reference to Marc Bolan, the last lead singer of the 1970s glam rock band T-Rex.

The game was released in September 2014, but initially appeared in some , as on other (older Android devices), the game would have to be developed from scratch. In December of the same year, development was completed, so everyone could access the game, regardless of their connected (non-connected) device.

Chrome Dino game can be considered a huge success although it is hidden. According to Edward Jung, Chrome UX engineer, 270 games are played every month, from desktop and mobile. Most players come from with unreliable internet such as India, Brazil, Indonesia and Mexico.

You can play the dino game without enabling Plain Mode. Just open the internal address chrome: // dino on the Chrome you are using.
