The Mozilla Foundation has announced the release of Firefox Monitor. This is a free service, tested since the summer, that informs Firefox users (and not only) if their data has been leaked in Internet.
Firefox Monitor is the product a collaboration with Troy Hunt, creator of 'Have I Been Pwned,' and uses the site's API to function.
Ο τρόπος με τον οποίο λειτουργεί η “νέα” υπηρεσία θα είναι γνώριμος σε όποιον έχει χρησιμοποιήσει την ιστοσελίδα του Troy Hunt, Have I Been Pwned.
The purpose of Firefox Monitor is to allow users to respond to data breaches in a timely manner, giving them the opportunity to take proactive measures to stop further surprises, with a change of passwords access but also the activation of two-factor authentication (2FA).
Although Firefox Monitor doesn't do much more than the 'Have I Been Pwned' page does, it makes the tool available to a much larger audience. Firefox is already installed on hundreds of millions of computers and many of the users who use it browser of the Mozilla Foundation have no idea if their data is freely circulating on the Internet.
The Mozilla Foundation has promised to provide a complete end-user security and privacy tool this autumn and the Firefox Monitor seems to be the first to be released.
