Wiki Loves Monuments is an international competitionof heritage photography, organized by Wikimedia affiliates and user groups.
In 2010 it was organized for the first time in the Netherlands, followed by the pan-European biorganization of 2011.
Wiki Love Monuments 2012 was organized globally and many took part countries around the world such as Canada, Chile, India, Panama, Ghana, Philippines, Russia, South Africa and the United States. Since 2016 Wiki Loves Monuments is also organized in Greece.
The aim of the competition is to ask the general public, its readers and users Wikipedia, photographers, hobbyists, etc., to take pictures of cultural heritage sites and upload them to Wikimedia Commons for use in Wikipedia. Examples of desirable photos can be found in its winners 2016 and 2017, the winners of the international competition (2017), but also the winners of all international competitions of 2017.
