Google is preparing to make this a reality. Today the company announced Project Stream, its own 3D gaming streaming platform such as GeForce Now. Google says the project is a "technical test to solve some of the biggest streaming challenges."
The company is leading the way, and starting October 5, "a limited number of participants" will be able to play Assassin's Creed Odyssey for free on the platform.
Although there is only one game, it is still an unusual move from Google. We've long heard rumors that Google is preparing one service of cloud gaming codenamed “Yeti,” but today we have the first concrete hint.
Of course, many hardcore players may not be satisfied with streaming games, but it could prove to be a valuable alternative for players who are not as lucky with the fidelity and latency of their computers.
Needless to say, you'll need fast internet for the new service to work. Google recommends 25 megabits per second. Those interested can apply enrollment to try Project Stream from here.
