VLC is expected to reach three billion today downloads and the people behind the program, celebrate it properly at CES 2019.
VLC is a free, open source code, video player, which can play any media format that exists. Except today's new 3.0.6 version which is now expected to catch the three billion downloads.
The Variety visited the booth of VLC manufacturer VideoLan at the CES 2019 international exhibition, where its people are counting downloads and are getting closer and closer to the number of three billion. The VideoLan team expects that number to hit sometime today Friday, with around 25% of all downloads going to mobile Appliances.
In a celebratory mood, company representatives said that VLC will work to bring the AirPlay on its platform, in the future. Variety reports that developer Jean-Baptiste Kempf believes the feature could arrive in the coming months.
