Microsoft: KB4487345 that repairs KB4480970

Microsoft has released a new update for Windows 7, which comes to resolve an issue that was raised last week by KB4480970 released with Patch Tuesday.

New Windows 7 update KB4487345 is available for download and reportedly fixes access to shared network in the Administrators group.

Microsoft

Microsoft reports in KB4487345 of Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and its R2:

This update fixes a problem where local users in the Administrators group may not be able to remotely access Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 shares after you install the security update of January 8, 2019 .

Please note that this update is not available through Windows Update, but only through Microsoft Product Update. This means that if you are interested you will have to download the file and install it manually. Most likely, the next Patch Tuesday for February will include this fix.

Note that last week, Microsoft also managed to fix a problem that reappeared after the KB4480970 update was installed, leading to the deactivation of the Windows 7 KMS license.

Microsoft said this issue had nothing to do with installing the update in Windows 7 and that it was just a coincidence.

The timing of this issue coincides with the release of the January updates (KB4480960 and KB4480970) that were released on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. The events are not related. The issue has been fixed on Microsoft Activation and Validation servers. If you experience this problem, follow the instructions of article KB4487266.
