HoloLens application for pre-operative design was approved by the FDA

A HoloLens related to pre-operative patient planning, approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

HoloLens

The HoloLens application OpenSight Augmented Reality System is one augmented reality for surgery , manufactured by Novarad and enables surgeons to create interactive 2D, 3D and even 4D anatomical images of their patients, accurately projecting them onto the patient's body to enable accurate surgical planning.

Unlike previous pre-operative planning systems that use virtual reality, OpenSight uses glasses HoloLens®, which allow physicians to view 3D images of patients in augmented reality, highlight relevant anatomy and avoid critical structures, while also being able to place virtual and guidance systems to more accurately plan a surgical approach.

The hologram overlay can be viewed simultaneously by multiple HoloLens users, making them useful in both clinical and educational settings. In addition, an educational version of the software is provided for students s, to perform virtual dissections on corpses.
