The translation of the fourth edition of the licenses has been completed Creative Commons 4.0 in the Greek language, which was made with the cooperation of the Cypriot and Greek Creative Commons groups.
Creative Commons licenses are a set of standard copyright licenses that allow authors to distribute their work freely to the public. These licenses vary and the creator has the ability to choose the one that best suits his needs.
Creators of all kinds, academics, researchers, educators, artists, bloggers, public organizations, libraries, archives, museums, government and private entities use Creative Commons licenses to distribute their works in Internet free of charge, on the terms they understand and deem appropriate, while being assured that users will respect the terms of the license and be bound by it.
Creative Commons licenses were incorporated into Greek law by 2007 from a working group whose scientific supervision was held by the then president of the Intellectual Property Organization, Professor of the University of Athens, Dionysia Kallinikou. The translation of the 4.0 edition of Creative Commons licenses into Greek is expected to be a valuable tool for disseminating scientific, literary and artistic creation in Greece and Cyprus.
To promote the Creative Commons goals, volunteers are headed by local teams in each of the national jurisdictions for which Creative Commons licenses have already been customized. Creative Commons International and volunteer leaders of local groups are independent and separate entities, but they also work together to contribute to the adoption of the licenses and tools offered by Creative Commons.
