Microsoft is still preparing the upcoming Windows 10 April 2019 Update. In the latest build, as we mentioned in the morning you will be able to run desktop (Win32) applications in the virtual environment of a Mixed device Reality.
This feature is part of build 18329, announced by Microsoft yesterday, February 1, 2019.
So from this version, if you have one device Windows Mixed Reality, you will now be able to run any application you want in the Mixed Reality virtual environment. Application windows will hover in the air in the 3D view of your virtual environment and will work just like the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) applications from the Store.
UWP applications for the unfamiliar already work in Mixed Reality Windows 10 environment.
Microsoft says about the new feature of Windows 10:
To use this feature, pull up the Pins Panel (in Mixed Reality) and then search for all apps. There you will find a folder named “Classic Apps (Beta)”. In this folder, you will be able to select and run any desktop (Win32) applications.
The new addition sounds very interesting, but we do not know if it is practical. Today's virtual reality devices have panels low resolution so you can see the pixels in front of your eyes.
But a future high-resolution device could offer a much better working environment, with many practical applications in our daily lives.
It seems that Windows Mixed Reality is preparing for a very exciting future.
