Android apps refuse to uninstall

Android mobile apps with over 700.000 installations use a new trick to avoid being completely removed.

Android

Three Android apps, published on the Google Play Store and used to show spam, have been found to employ a clever technique to prevent user uninstallation.

According to ESET security researcher Lukas Stefanko, these applications are Super Lite, Excellent Camera, and Ideal Camera had over 700.000 installs on the Play Store.

Once one of the above apps is installed on a Android, the system automatically creates an icon to start it. However, after the first run, its main icon s is deleted and a second one is created only with the “Remove” option of the application and not the app her.

This method is made to deceive them so that they think they are uninstalling the app from their device, when in fact, it remains on the device and continues to show unwanted , because only the second icon is deleted.

Stefanko also found a second one

Recommended for users always read the comments before they download and install an app from the Google Play Store. Uninstalling an app must be done either from the Google Play Store or from the of apps from the phone and not by pressing the uninstall option that appears when you press and hold its icon on the home screen.
