Portals from Google's new Web browsing technology

At yesterday's I/O 2019 developer conference, Google introduced a new technology called Portals, which aims to offer a new way to load and navigate .

According to Google>, and allow web developers to embed remote content into their pages.

The difference between a Portal and an iframe tag is that Google's new Portals technology is an upgrade of iframes. Google says Portal tags will allow users to browse through the content they embed - something that iframes do not allow for reasons security.

In addition, Portals will be able to change the base line of URLs, which means they will be useful and like navigation more than embedding content, which is the most common way iframes are used today.

Google engineers hope that the new Portals technology will be used extensively on the web and will become the standard way for websites to exchange links.

For example, its engineers ς ελπίζουν ότι όταν ένας χρήστης περιηγείται σε έναν ιστότοπο , when it reaches the end of a story, related links to other stories can be embedded like Portals. So with one click, the user will be able to change seamlessly to a new page.

The advantage of Portals over classic links is that content through Portals can be uploaded in advance without waiting for the user to upload.

Το χαρακτηριστικό ανακοινώθηκε για πρώτη φορά στη Σύνοδο Κορυφής του Chrome Dev πέρυσι τον Νοέμβριο, αλλά ξεκινάει από σήμερα. Τα Pοrtals υποστηρίζονται στην τελευταία έκδοση του Chrome for Android, Mac, Windows, Linux and Chrome OS.

To enable it, you need to open the Chrome internal address: chrome: // flags / # enable-portals.

Currently the feature is only available in Chrome Canary, and if you want to see with a demo, you can do so from here.
