One and a half months after the beta was released, Apple's iOS 12.3 update officially released today for Appliances iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Η new edition focuses heavily on TV-related improvements. Yes the new version of iOS supports third party TV with possibilities AirPlay 2, and comes with an upgraded TV app.
According to Apple, the upgraded application will be available in over 100 countries starting today and includes support for over 150 video apps.
Apple's support for third-party "smart TVs" was first announced at CES 2019 in January, and allows the 2018 and 2019 models from Samsung, LG, Vizio and Sony to stream video and audio from iOS devices.
The company later announced that it is currently working with Roku and Amazon for their TVs. So we expect that then support will be added through software / firmware updates for other TV manufacturers.
Samsung smart TVs (2019 models and some 2018 models) will have official support from today.
You can immediately upgrade to the new Apple operating system from the device you via OTA.
