AMD Ryzen 9 3950X third generation monster at 749 dollars

AMD seems to want to shake up the processor market with the revelation of its third generation at the “Next Horizon Gaming” event during E3.

Again we have to wait for Intel's response.

AMD Ryzen 9 3950X

AMD Ryzen 9 3950X is an 16-core / 32-thread chip based on the 2-nanometer Zen 7 architecture. The chip runs at base clock speed at 3,5GHz, has a boost clock at 4.7GHz with a surprising cache on 72MB.

This is the largest number of kernels for a desktop processor targeting the general public.

Ryzen 9 3950X uses AM4 socket and AMD recommends that it be placed on one of the company's new X570 motherboards that were released (announced) to Computex.

All of the above can happen in TDP (Thermal Design Power) which reaches only 105W. You can compare the result with AMD's 16-core Threadripper with TDP at 180W and Intel's offer of 16-core with TDP at 165W. Nothing to do with…

3950X uses two of the eight Zen 2 cores in combination with an IO die featuring 24 PCIe 4.0 lanes.

Η 749 dollars may be too high for today's prices of processors aimed at "ordinary" users, but this particular chip shows us what AMD can do with the Zen 2 architecture.

Are you looking for high returns? How do you feel the company's price for that one? Mainstream desktop processor? Would you buy it for the PC at your;
