Windows 10 version 1809 error causes delays

Devices running Windows 10 version 1809 may take longer (up to 60 seconds) to close or enter a state s due to a new bug.

Microsoft employee Philip Froese confirmed the error on the Microsoft Tech Community website.

Windows 10

The issue affects devices that have USB Type-C devices connected, e.g. docks, chargers or mobile devices.

Froese reported that the issue can cause a 60-second delay when the system shuts down or enters sleep mode when USB Type-C devices are present in the running Windows 10.

Microsoft identified the bug in the USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface software. Occurs when the USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface tries to handle new connect or disconnect events during startup or sleep .

A bug in the USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface (UCSI) software implementation in Windows 10 version 1809 can cause a 60-second delay in sleep or during system shutdown, if it occurs when the UCSI software is busy with a new connect or disconnect event on the USB Type-C port.

The issue does not affect the functionality of the USB Type-C port on the device. The system and ports continue to operate normally at the next system boot.

Except for an extra minute in sleep mode or system shutdown, this error does not affect the normal functionality of USB Type-C on your machine. The system and USB Type-C ports will work properly after the next system restart.

The issue has not yet been added to the list of known issues with this version of Windows 10.

Froese did not disclose when Microsoft plans to fix this issue.
