The upcoming Canonical Ubuntu 19.10 Eoan Ermine operating system entered the Final Freeze phase, just days before its final release on 17 October.
From the 10th of October, the version of Ubuntu 19.10 is officially in the Final Freeze stage, the last step in its development phase, which means that only critical errorthose that affect ISO images or installers.
Release Candidate ISOs are also available for testing, to ensure that the final version does not avoid errors.
Ubuntu 19.10 will be released on 17 October with new features.
The upcoming Ubuntu 19.10 Eoan Ermine operating system will release many new features and updated packages, including the latest GNOME 3.34 desktop environment, the Linux 5.3 kernel series with LZ4 compression algorithm for initramfs support, experiment ZFS files, the new LibreOffice 6.3, PulseAudio 13.0 software, and the Firefox 69 browser.
The toolchain of the operating system was updated with the following packages: GCC 9.2.1, Glibc 2.30, Python 3.7.5, Ruby 2.5.5, PHP 7.3.8, Perl 5.28.1, Golang 1.12.10, OpenJDK 11, QEMU 4.0, dpdk 18.11.2, Openvack 5.6, libvirt X, and Rustc 2.12. The AArch1.37 and POWER toolkits can cross-compile for ARM, S64X and RISCV390 architectures.
Ubuntu 19.10 also supports the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B and comes with Nvidia-specific enhancements such as better boot reliability when using the driver graphics Nvidia. Packages are now included in the ISO image by defaultchoice, as well as improved frame rate performance for Nvidia GPUs.
