Facebook has just unveiled its new brand, via an announcement from its chief marketing officer Antonio Pike.
Facebook is changing its brand name and apparently putting it on all of the apps it owns. Her marketing manager companys, Antonio Lucio, issued a statement today with all the details.
Specifically, the Communication states:
Facebook started as a single app. Now, 15 years later, we offer a suite of products that help them people connect with friends and family, find communities and grow businesses.
Today, we are updating our company name to make it clearer about products coming from Facebook. We are introducing a new corporate logo and further distinguishing the Facebook company from the Facebook application, which will keep its own branding.
The New branding was designed for the sake of clarity and uses custom typography and capital graph to create a visual distinction between the company and the application.
People need to know which companies own the products they use. The ladies services our apps include Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus, Workplace, Portal and Calibra. These applications and technologies have shared infrastructure for years, and the teams behind them often collaborate.
We started to be clearer about the products and services that were part of Facebook years ago, adding a company endorsement to products like Oculus, Workplace and Portal. And in June we started to include "from Facebook" in all our applications. In the coming weeks, we will start using the new brand in marketing products and materials, including a new company website.
This brand change is a way of better communicating the ownership structure with the people and businesses that use our services to connect, share, create and grow their community.
