VPN Mobile: downloading 480 millions of applications

More than 480 millions of mobile VPN apps have been downloaded from the official Stores app for Android and iOS devices in the past 12 months, according to a Top10VPN publication.

This number is 54% higher than last year, which recorded 311 million downloads.

Of the 480 million downloads, 75% were downloads of VPN apps for Android (358,3 millions) while 121,9 downloaded millions of VPN apps for iOS, which is not surprising as Android has a much larger number of users.VPN

“Downloads were higher in Asia Pacific (APAC), a which has been hit by political and social unrest over the past 12 months. 188 million apps were downloaded there, which was more than double the previous year's total," said Simon Migliano, head of research at Top10VPN.

VPN or Proxy; Which one is for me?

The country that topped the download charts, according to Migliano, was Indonesia as Indonesians downloaded more 75,5 million mobile VPN applications. The increase in downloads reached 111% compared to the previous year.VPN

Next are Jordan (387%), Kazakhstan (210%), Algeria (205%) and Vietnam (140%). These countries are experiencing political turmoil.

According to Publication by Top10VPN, 84,3% of 480 million downloads concerned free VPN applications.

The most downloaded apps, according to the of the app stores for Android and iOS, were TurboVPN (51,3 million); Shield (42,8 million) and Betternet (29,9 million).

Over the next three years we will reach 1 billion mobile VPN applications downloads, without counting downloads from China. It is clear that internet users around the world are trying to restore internet freedoms that are constantly eroding.
