uTorrent attention beats red on Virustotal

If you try to scan the latter uTorrent installation on services like the Virustotal you will notice that the popular application "hits" red.

uTorrent Classic, uTorrent Web, but also the are detected by many antivirus applications as malware. The main version, uTorrent Classic, is detected as malicious out of ten applications: Defender, Sophos, Eset Nod32, GData and Dr.Web.

What is detected? Most security applications report that the torrent client contains "PUA or Potentially Unwanted Applications".

Windows Defender does not detect or block any unwanted programs by default. You should first enable the option to start scanning executable files. Microsoft's security solution prevented it of utorrent.exe.

Those who use uTorrent should think of switching to a torrent client. Applications qBittorrent or Transmission, are open source and come with no ads and unwanted programs added to your computer during installation.
