Microsoft officially opened the new website Edge Chromium Extensions, where all developers can submit Add-ons of the new Microsoft Edge browser.
The Submission Portal for add-ons that will work with the new Edge browser, opened on December 16th for all developers. They are invited to submit their extensions through Partner Center Developer Dashboard.
Until recently this feature has been limited to a few select developers. Edge allows most Chromium / Chrome extensions to work without modifications. It also includes a series Edge-only API, where interested developers can use them in their extensions.
Microsoft will no longer accept new extensions for the classic EdgeHTML browser. However, it will continue to accept updates for existing “legacy” extensions. Microsoft encourages developers to modify their extensions for Edge Chromium. When the users they will go to Edge Chromium, try to find the updated extension from the developer and install it automatically.
Microsoft currently uses three channels to deliver updates to Edge Insiders. The fixed release of Microsoft Edge is expected to be released on January 15, 2020.
