Facebook has apologized for the translation of its president's name ChinaXi Jinping as “Mr. Shithole”.
The wrong translation of the name of the president of China, Mr. Xi Jingping, drew everyone's attention world εχθές.
And Facebook took care to translate it for those who do not know Burmese fluently: "Mr. Shithole, President of China arrives at 4 p.m." !!!!
Facebook does not currently have a translation solution and therefore relies entirely on Google. It is quite interesting to note that, unlike Facebook, Google Translator correctly translated its article Aung San Suu Kyi on Facebook and that made people think it's Facebook's fault.
Google made no announcement about the translation malfunction and only Facebook issued an apology, which confirms that the error is Facebook's fault.
"We fixed a technical issue that caused incorrect translations from Burmese to English on Facebook," Stone said. "This should not have happened and we are taking steps to ensure that it does not happen again."
Facebook, along with other global social media platforms, is currently banned in China. The Chinese government is responsible for controlling the content on the Internetnetwork. It can delete as well as ban content, which is against the interest of the state.
